TEMPERAMENT
Fleet is driven, intelligent, and easy to live with at home. She can be wary of strangers in a manner I do not consider proper aussie reserve as it's based in insecurity. It's taken some creative training and thinking outside the box to have her find strangers tolerable, handling by strangers is still not within her comfort zone and she will not be OFA'd until her training is at that level. She thrives on working and learning and does both at full throttle. Like her mom, siblings and half siblings, she's got a wonderful sense of humor and is a joy to train. She's doing well with agility foundations and prefers to work closely. She is also beginning nosework and has shown a ton of potential with herding which we hope to get into down the road. --Edit- As I learn more about herding, the less I enjoy or prefer her style- she's fast/quick to bite over the thoughtful dogs with presence that I prefer. Because of such, she will not be continuing her training or trialing in stock as I don't believe she should be a representation of the breed in the trial arena nor on a ranch. Fleet has been spayed and hip & elbow radiographs were taken (posted below). The vet that was ideal for her handling and pre-medication before the spay will not work with OFA so they were not submitted, but we hope to get them retaken at our preferred vet as soon as she can handle it without ill effects. Update- they were retaken under sedation and submitted to OFA, results are posted. |
