Ch-ch-changes- At the end of 2021, Kaye Harris of Crown Point Aussies passed away and entrusted her live-in kennel manager of 12+ years, Danielle Spady of Avid Aussies, to continue the Crown Point legacy through her breeding program, herding training methods, and sheep flock.
Unfortunately, Kaye's passing also meant big life changes for Danielle and the dogs including but not limited to moving from their Crown Point Ranch outside of Berthoud and relocating to a new ranch about an hour away and then moving again after a single year to another place with even less infrastructure for the dogs and livestock. The most recent relocation also paralleled Danielle having the wonderful opportunity to teach/train full time albeit off-the-ranch to help support the homestead.
As of August 2023, Avid/Crown Point and crew is settling in at their long-term home outside of Wellington, Colorado and building out the property to suit everyone's needs.
What's all of this mean? It means that websites get neglected, emails get buried, and the Facebook groups tend to get fewer updates as most waking hours are spent caring for the animals, working in town, or building/remodeling. The best method for contacting Danielle is via Facebook Messenger- if you're interested in chatting about becoming part of the Avid/Crown Point family by welcoming one of these awesome dogs/pups into your home- please fill out the puppy inquiry below and let Danielle know by sending her a message through Facebook messenger.
This also means that after some significant grieving, reflection, and future planning, there are some non-breeding adults available from the Crown Point program looking for their own forever homes. For the past 4+ decades, the Crown Point dogs were primarily housed in a kennel building (temperature controlled complete with indoor/outdoor runs and the majority of the day turned out in play groups with their friends) which was extension of Kaye's house and 15+ steps away from Danielle's. Over the past 5 months, the CP dogs have made the transition to house dogs quite seamlessly and have taken these past couple of years in stride while everyone has been working to find a new normal.
Ages of available adults range from 2 to 9 years old. The average life span for the Crown Point dogs has been ~15-16 years old with dogs remaining active and spry into their mid teens. 8 years was what Kaye considered the Prime of Life for her dogs. All dogs are crate and leash trained, off leash reliable, come with lifetime training support from a professional dog trainer, discounted boarding and grooming, UTD vaccines, microchipped, etc. They're currently eating Inukshuk dog food.
Potential availability to put herding foundations before rehoming offered for select dogs.

2023
Crown Point:
6 pups born to Clue, Crown Point Just A Hint OFA Link on July 4, 2023. 3 red tri males, 1 black tri male, 1 red tri female, and 1 black tri female make up Crown Point's "Guess Who" litter As Clue choreographed this one, paternal DNA is pending. The odds (and rules of color inheritance) lean toward the sire being Agent- Crown Point Man In Black at Avid OFA Link. Both are highly confident, goofy, playful dogs with strong work ethics, and stock savvy. Agent gets along with and enjoys the company of all dogs- other intact males included. Clue gets along with all dogs but prefers those who don't appease/grovel. Both Clue and Agent *enjoy* vet visits, love all humans, and become quick favorites of all who meet them. Both can be intense with cats- staring and chasing. Puppies are being raised around cats/kittens that discourage those behaviors but the predisposition is there. Pups are expected to lean toward strong willed, very intelligent partners who will need fair, clear and consistent boundaries. They're expected to give 200% in any direction asked of them. This is a pairing that is likely to produce the kind of dogs who become heart dogs easily- touchy/cuddly, strong natural affinity for eye contact, forgiveness in training, sense of humor, tendency to be "extra" or have "flair" in all they do and find joy in all aspects of life, easily reinforced with laughter/eye contact/smiling, easy to live with with strong off switches "off until on". All pups have full tails and dewclaws. Agent's Pedigree is on his page, linked above and Clue is Crown Point Murphy x Crown Point Mace of Diamonds at Hearthstone, Murphy is a full brother to Avid's foundation, Khyan, and Mace is also the dam of Gambler and Yara. |
Avid:
Briggs and a Crown Point boy named Gepetto had 7 wonderful pups March 8, 2023! 1 red tri male, 3 red merle males, and 3 red merle females make up Avid's Innovators litter We've held back 2 red merle females (Bishop and Kiessling) and 1 red merle male (Grandin) and will consider placement with co-breeding contracts; allowing the pups to continue forward as part of Avid/Crown Point's future via Avid-raised litters and/or stud use.
