Avid's Trial By Fire
Scorch is a wonderful teammate and partner. She, like her mom, can be sensitive to handler corrections, but has a better recovery (instant). She’s a clever girl and a natural problem solver- for me, as well as for herself as evidenced by her penchant for opening crates, gates, and doors. She’s a wonderful demo dog in the manners and puppy classes I teach and is a great guide for puppies during playtime. She is a natural in agility- seeming to understand lines, handling, and the big picture of the game more than any dog I’ve known. She’s also a natural with stock and has been forgiving of my novice mistakes. We plan to venture into the stock trial arena fall of 2018. She naturally works off of her stock, has gorgeous square flanks and is a very strong fetching dog.
Scorch and Gambler combined to create optimistic, happy puppies with varying levels of natural settling ability ranging from Gam’s “off until on” style to Scorch’s prefers-to-do-things outlook. This was a litter I had hoped for since long before Scorch was conceived and they’ve been worth every moment of anticipation. |

AX AXJ JS-E GS-E RS-E SS SR SJ UAG2 CGC DNA-VP Gambler is an extrovert. He gives his all into whatever he's doing- whether it's running agility, chasing bunnies or settling on the couch. He's a thinking dog with a huge sense of humor. He's very patient with puppies and as concerned about them as their own dams. He has been a great asset in raising puppies as he is their playmate and also takes over eye/ear cleaning as the dam weans off of it. He's great with people and has never met a stranger but at the end of the day, is very much my dog. He can be impulsive- especially when he's excited but quickly channels it to the job at hand. With dogs, he can be reactive in high energy environments.
In training, he's a creative and enthusiastic learner. Everything he does, he does with all of his heart and a big dose of flair. In agility, he gives 110%. We've changed training methods as well as handling methods and he's taken each new step like an old pro. He generalizes quickly in life so new equipment/surfaces/places have never phased him. He was as comfortable in his first hotel room as he was hanging out at home. He's been on stock a handful of times and has natural group, some eye and heels low on cattle. He's naturally a great snake-dog and has kept them at bay while keeping other dogs at a distance until a person comes to take over. Gam has had one litter. He has imprinted them with his joie de vivre as well as his off switch and 'roll with it' attitude. |
